Orphaned Baby “Ella” – now part of the Naries Family…

During breakfast on Friday morning, our guests (Andre and Andrien Joubert) noticed a baby springbok standing completely alone in the field.

Sadly, upon further investigation, Francis (one of our staff members) came across another calf that had already died. There was no sign of their mother. There has been a drought of late and we assume that she was taken by a hungry cheetah or some other wild animal.

Luckily we could manage to catch the baby Springbok and took her in for care. We named the baby springbok “Ella”. Andrien (one of our guests) and Ella bonded immediately and by the way “Ella” cuddled herself in Andrien’s neck, we new a love affair has just started!

We took some advice from a nearby farmer and managed to mix up a concoction of milks to form colostrum for baby “Ella”. She started to take the bottle with colostrum and drank everything without hesitation! We can joyfully say that she is fit and healthy! She even kicks like a Springbok goal scorer!

Wait… “Ella” is calling… We will keep you posted…
